The farmhouse, adjacent to the winery, dates back to 1820 and boasts a long and fascinating history. The building was originally used for charcoal production: the small family that ran this business was nicknamed by their fellow villagers: “Polvagnor” (in the Apulian dialect), or “Black Powder”, since the skin, in contact with the coal dust, took on a dark color.
Filippo Cassano has reworked the nickname of this ancient family, transforming it into the brand of his products. Polvanera In fact, it recalls both the intense ruby red color of Primitivo wine and a fertile and productive soil, characterized by ferrous red earth and limestone rock.

Thanks to careful renovations carried out by the family themselves, the masseria today retains its original beauty. Inside, you can taste wines, savor traditional local dishes, and participate in cultural events.
